The one project I did work on recently was repairing my HTPC that has been dead for two months. Originally I thought I had a dead power supply (PSU) in the computer. It wasn't until after I purchased a new PSU that I realized it was my motherboard that had died. After a very long return process I got a replacement motherboard free of charge. The bad part was when that motherboard died two days after getting the HTPC running again. In order for the company to replace the second bad motherboard I had to test it with a new CPU and Memory. As I didn't have either laying around I had to buy a new CPU and Memory just to get the motherboard replaced. Eventually they did replace that motherboard and the computer is now up and running again which makes us all very happy.
Of course now I have a pile of parts sitting in the corner that I don't know what to do with. With that in mind I picked up a few more parts so I'll have a second computer sitting around waiting for a project. I'm thinking I may finally start work on the MAME cabinet I've been talking about making for years. The only down side of that project is that it will cost money to build and I don't feel like spending money right now. I'll just add that to my ever growing list of projects.
