Small Worlds

So after last Friday's mind blowing post about the vastness of the universe I'm going to talk about Small Worlds. Back in October I posted about a browser based video game called Canabalt. I got a few emails from people who don't normally play video games who were asking for other free to play online games. To be honest I didn't have much to tell them but I did start to keep my eyes open for some that are good. Thankfully I stumbled upon Small Worlds by David Shute a few weeks back. As far as games go it is about as simplistic as it gets and yet it cuts right to the heart of what makes games fun. This game just hits on the desire many gamers have to explore a 2D video game world. For someone who has never really gotten into video games this one little game will show you about how fun it is to explore a new world without the need to learn any new skills. Yes the game is easy and it is also only 20 minutes long. There is no way to lose and there are no enemies to fight. In fact the only way to not finish the game is to just stop playing before you reach the end. You simply explore a world to see what there is to see. To a lot of video game fans that about sums up the fun in every new game they get. It's a need that has to be scratched to explore a new world and see what is in it.

So do yourself a favor and check this game out ASAP.
