The graphics card in my Mac Pro has been acting up for the past week. On Thursday or Friday of last week the second DVI port on my graphics card up and died. For someone who is used to working with two monitors going down to one is a pretty big deal. It is especially traumatic when I'm right in the middle of many big video projects. The good news is I just finished up working on the Kleptones video. The bad news is I don't have a computer right now to get the finished product online.
It turns out that the Mac Pro uses a proprietary graphics card so you can't just walk into any Best Buy and pick up a new card for $130. On Saturday I took my computer into the Mac store to see if I could pick up a new card but the guy who works on Macs was off on Saturday. Monday I had Jacque take the computer in so they could tell me what type of graphics card I need to replace the dead one. It is now Wednesday and I still have yet to hear anything. Next time I'm building a hackintosh and worrying about my own parts. Better yet I'll just build a huge server in my basement and do all my work off a laptop. At least when a MacBook screen dies they just give you a whole new computer. Well assuming your under warranty. :( Hopefully this will all be sorted out by this weekend.
