I believe JFK said that but I'm too lazy to fact check.
Today I found a bike company called Renovo that makes bike frames out of wood. I wish I had more to say about it but I'm kind of amazed at how awesome the look. Anyone want to buy me one. I think they start at $2,000!!!!
One of the projects that works really well for strengthening health systems in developing countries is using bamboo bikes and trailers to be used as ambulances. The idea began in Zambia by a org called Zambikes and the ambulance is called Zambulance: http://www.zambikes.org/
Here is a story explaining the uses and pros for it: http://www.globalenvision.org/2009/07/01/bamboo-bikes-zambias-new-economic-revolution
Designers are trying to sell them in the US also: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/8125274.stm
Also, here is a video of how to make them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9yzXGM44Xo
When I started crappylogo.com years ago it was a website devoted to my freelance production company. Slowly this website gave way to my own artistic musings and became a dumping ground for all my inspiration and interests. Over the years I have slowed down in the amount of original work I publish here but I still publish my blog regularly so feel free to check back often. You can also see all my favorite projects here so dig around a bit and I hope you like what you find.
