It has taken a few weeks but I finally have a HTPC that is capable of showing me a growing list of movies. The sheer convenience of having all your movies on demand whenever you want is pretty cool. It is only made better by the fact that I don't even have to get off the couch to put in a disc.
The only downside in all of this is that it took me a lot of time to figure out what programs I needed and how to use them in order to get the seamless operation I was looking for. Some of the programs I initially thought I would use I didn't end up using; others I never thought I would need I ended up needing badly.
Now the HTPC is far from complete. I still have a bit of tinkering to do and I still haven't really tackled how I want video games to work on the new computer. When I finish everything up I'll be sure to write a long post about how I built the computer and what software I'm running. Until then I get to enjoy movies very easily and I can't wait to get home tonight and watch some.
NOTE: Cannonball Run will not be one of the movies I watch. The picture above just popped up in a Google image search for "Watch Movies."
