Random Games

Tonight I was walking out of class when I see this 5 or 6 year old kid in the hallway. I didn't think much of him and I walked right by. It wasn't until he caught up to me and was walking right next to me that he really caught my attention. He stared up at me until I looked at him and then he looked at the door and back at me and said "I'm going to beat you." Just like that we both broke out into a run toward the door. I slowed down to keep him close until the end when I hit the door at the same time as he did. I said "I won" to which the little guy replied without even hesitating "the race is to the second door."

I think he won on a technicality but it got me thinking about how much fun I just had. Out of nowhere I had a foot race with a little kid for no reason at all except that it was fun. I kind of wish more things like that happened in public places. Think about walking through a mall when all of a sudden someone taps you on the shoulder and informs you that "You're it." Suddenly for the next few minutes you're having fun for no other reason then it's fun.

Jacque and I tried this late one night on State St. one night but all we got was strange looks and people trying to keep their distance from us. I've posted this video before but it brings up a good point...

...think how much fun you could have just by venturing out in public if everyone around you was trying to have as much fun as a 6 year old kid.
