Living Bridges

I never really thought I would say this but I want to visit one of the wettest place on Earth.

Cherrapunji, India

You see I could not only eat a ton of kick ass Indian food but I could see these.

The locals take the roots of the Ficus elastica tree (a rubber tree of some sort) and stretch them across rivers until they take root on the other side. After about 10-15 years they end up with a living bridge they can cross.

Some of these bridges are hundreds of years old and getting stronger all the time because they are alive. You can find a whole blog about them here. I'm blown away at how awesome these are.
