Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

Over the last few years I have amassed a huge collection of pictures due to the advent of digital photography. As long as I could remember I only had about 12 pictures total. Now all of a sudden I have tens of thousands. Most of which are completely useless or blurry or of people I don't even know or remember. The truly sad part is that I have no organizational system for them so they are all in one folder with doubles and triples of some pictures.

Yesterday I found a program that ferrets out all your duplicate photos so you can easily delete them. It is called VisiPics and unlike many other duplicate photo finding programs I have used this one actually does a pretty good job. It uses some programing huju to find the doubles and triples based on how the pictures looks and not just on how it is named or what its file size is. So far it has found 6,333 pictures at the time of me writing this. I'll have to go in and delete all the doubles tonight but I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere on all these pictures. Granted it won't help with photo orginization but it is a step in the right direction. Thankfully I can just use iPhoto for all that pesky orinization stuff.

Oh and if you are looking for something like iPhoto for a windows computer I suggest Picasa which is a very good alternative.
